Born in Hobart, Australia, in 1953, Philip Brooks is a documentary filmmaker and producer. In the early 1990s, he founded the production company Dominant 7, with his partner Laurent Bocahut and a distributor named Dominique Welinski. Dominant 7 produced stories from the margins of politics, culture and sexuality. Brooks wrote, directed and co-directed several films and documentaries, including My Own Private Oz (2000), Woubi chéri (1998), Spikes and Heels (1994), Manila - the Real Thing (1994), and Drowning by Bullets (1992). Philip Brooks passed away in Cadiz, Spain, in 2003.
